In March 2023, GR Spares underwent a change in management while preserving the principles upon which it was founded. FAREWELL TO A ‘SPARE PARTS’ LEGEND
“My Caterpillar journey started in 1977 as a counter sales man at Oshkosh Trucks Supply (Barlows) in Isando. I was trained in the workshop where I gained my knowledge and experience in earthmoving spares. In 1981 I was transferred to Thomas Barlow and Sons in New Germany.
In September 1988 my colleague and I entered into a partnership and opened G & R Spares. We had a very successful business for 11 years, we also had a branch in Midrand. In 1999 the Delta Group purchased G&R Spares where we had a restrain of 5 years. During the 5 years of my restraint I was involved in the food franchise.
This however was not my passion my heart belonged for Caterpillar spares. In 2004, I followed my passion and opened G R Spares. This became our family business which was very successful.
With a heavy heart after 46 years in the spares business I decided to call it a day. My Family and I wish G R Spares (Pty) Ltd. (Greener Alternative Solution) all the best for the future.
